Let's not complicate things, this is a very straightforward question. There are areas where beaches are right adjacent to or within walking distance of farmland.
God can bring rain and then dry the rain up. God can do so many things that are unheard of to man. If God created everything with just the words of his mouth, then I don't think that granting both of their prayers would be a problem.
Who says that both of them can't have the same thing at the same time. God can bring rain on one part of the farmland and the other not. He is God.
It depends on what is being prayed for.
How many would pray for a better spiritual life with God, if it meant a ticket on the Titanic? I'm sure many did that after the iceberg strike, but didn't have that way exactly in mind.
It has been said that if Titanic would have hit it head-on instead of grazing it, Titanic would have not sunk.
The U.S. is the next Titanic. A few Christians were warning about the iceberg ahead. Once again , the spiritual mentality of "Acknowledging God but denying his power" was displayed. This time we just grazed the iceberg and many are secure with that. Apparently, Christians are more comfortable with dodging icebergs than facing them head-on. Enough Christians ignored the "messiah" claims, shrugging it off as extremist. And now surprise surprise! our feet is getting wet.
The answer....a trillion dollar bailout? Do you honestly believe we can stay afloat by taking on more water?
The question is what are you praying for now.... for the "messiah" to succeed or to get to the life boat?

Jam 4:3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
Just something to think about.
I agree that yes and no are both answers. Well said.
