I'm sorry but the person that keeps mentioning getting the information from a priest, really needs to consult the Bible - the word of GOD. The priest is not God. Why aren't you cracking the spine of your King James?
1) ANGELS COORDINATE AND HARMONIZE IN ACCORDANCE WITH GOD'S INITIAL PLAN
Early Judao-Christian angelology is not my area of expertise, but Early Judao-Christian pre-creation council texts make it clear that early Judao-Christians believed that there were numberless personages that were designated angels, archangels and of other designations whose purpose was to coordinate and harmonize the carrying out of the Plan that God the Father conceived and inaugurated for the spirits of mankind. The Testament of Adam describes angels as the”lowest order” thusly :
Quote:
The heavenly powers what they are like and how each of their orders is occupied in the service and the plan of this world. Listen, my beloved, as they are set in order one after another from the bottom, until we reach those who carry our Lord Jesus the Messiah and bear him up. The lowest order is the angels “ [...] 2 “The second order is the archangels. This is the service: directing everything in this creation according to the plan of God, whether powers or animals, birds, or creeping things, or fish, and to speak briefly and in short, whatever exists in this creation, besides human beings, they care for it and guide it. (Testament of Adam 4:1-6)
Judao-Christian 2Enoch confirms this early doctrine :
Quote:
“These are the archangels who are over the angels; and they harmonize all existence, heavenly and earthly:....and angels who record all human souls, and all their deeds, and their lives before the face of the Lord. “ (2nd Enoch 19:3&5)
2) MICHAEL WAS THE HIGHEST ARCHANGEL IN MOST OF THE EARLY TRADITIONS
However, though, Lucifer was AN Archangel in the early Judao-Christian traditions, he was not THE Archangel over all other angels. That honor traditionally is held by Michael :
Quote:
“.. Michael, one of the holy and revered angels–he is their chief...” (1st Enoch 24:6)
For example, It is pre-creation Michael and pre-creation Son of God who are both directed by God the Father, to oust Lucifer, after Lucifer makes and initiates his plan to take over heaven as the many early pre-creation council texts describe.
Not only is Michael in great authority in the Judao-Christian pre-creation time periods, but Michael continues to play a powerful and authoritative role beyond mortality.
Quote:
“He will send eternal support to the company of his redeemed by the power of the majestic angel of the authority of Michael. By eternal light He shall joyfully light up the covenant of Israel–peace and blessing for the lot of God–to exalt the authority of Michael among the Gods and the dominion of Israel among all flesh. (THE WAR SCROLL 1QM, 4Q491-496 Col 17:6-8)
Ironically, in the early Judao-Christian Texts (and in the Quran as well) it is Michael who, before Lucifer started his “war” in heaven, encouraged Lucifer to be humble and obedient to the Father when the famous controversy over Adam occured (when God instructs the angels to honor Adam for Adam’s role in God’s plan at the time when Adam’s spirit is placed into his body and Adam is about to inaugurate God the Father’s plan on earth (mortality).
3) THE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE HISTORY SURROUNDING LUCIFER AND HIS FALL AND THE ROLE OF EVIL IN GOD'S PLAN
I remember a historical discussion regarding the origin of Satan where the poster commented :
“...there's nothing, scripturally speaking, that addresses the question of the origin of evil (or Satan, if you prefer). The only hint is in Genesis 3 where the serpent (in later tradition -- again without scriptural support -- identified as the devil) appears quite suddenly as part of an apparently very good creation. Nary a word of comment on the origins of this creature.... “
That’s it, in toto.
Such statements reveal a lack of a framework for understanding the basic issues surrounding what is going on with all of this “good” and “evil” that none of us avoid inside of creation; and demonstrate the value of turning to the earliest Christian teachings and their writings on such issues (in the period before many of the important doctrines were lost or changed). I do not believe that modern christian theory is as coherent; nor as understandable as the early Judao-Christian doctrines regarding Lucifers origins and motives for his fall from heaven.

Yes. Lucifer was the highest ranking angel before he rebelled against God. Remember that he was able to persuade one third of the angels to rebel with him, and therefore he had to have been in a position of leadership over them. Satan is a cherub. Cherubs have two to four wings. The wings are apparently symbols of rank.
Since the fall of Satan, Seraphim are now a higher ranking angel. They have at least as one of their functions, guarding the throne of God. A function that once belonged to Lucifer. Seraphs have six wings. Again a symbol of rank.
I have provided this website which I hope will be of help to you.

I disagree, it is Zamariel who is the highest ranking, and also the 1st Angel created. It is the most beloved Angels among the rest of the Angels, as is the most loyal to God. Zerachiel or Zachariel (Hebrew: זְכַרְ×ֵל Zəḵarʾēl, Tiberian: Zăḵarʾēl, God has remembered) also known as "Zakhariel" or "Saraqael", is one of the Angels who leads souls to judgement. Nineteen to the Nineteenth power millennium years ago, before there was a universe, before there was a single molecule, before there was Adam, and after God became lonely, God created the angels to keep his company. God named his first Angel, Zamariel.
Lucifer or Satan is an Archangel which is the 7th tier or level of the Angels (the lowest of the Angelic Hierarchy)

It's true that Michael is the highest archangel.
Fun Fact: St. Michael appeared in Italy -
Quote:
The Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel is a Roman Catholic shrine on Mount Gargano, Italy, part of the commune of Monte Sant'Angelo, in the province of Foggia, northern Apulia.
It is the oldest shrine in Western Europe dedicated to the Archangel Michael and has been an important site of pilgrimage since the early Middle Ages.
There are three sections to the legend, recording three apparitions of Michael: the first and third sections appear to be part of the same narrative, while the second is possibly the account of a battle half a century later. According to the first and last parts of the legend, around the year 490 the Archangel Michael appeared several times to the Bishop of Sipontum near a cave in the mountains, instructing that the cave be dedicated to Christian worship and promising protection of the nearby town of Sipontum from pagan invaders. These apparitions are also the first appearances of Saint Michael in western Europe.
I find there is only one singular Archangel in the Bible.
Thus, Michael is the one-and-only Archangel.
1st Thess. 4:16; Jude 1:9, 14 B-15; Daniel 12:1
There is only one or a bunch depending on your religion:
Quote:
In Catholicism, three are mentioned by name: Gabriel, Michael, Raphael. The latter of these identifies himself in Tobit 12:15(NAB) thus: "I am Raphael, one of the seven angels who stand and serve before the Glory of the Lord.
Eastern Orthodox Tradition mentions "thousands of archangels"; however, only seven to eight archangels are venerated by name.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church venerates the four archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel
The Protestant Bible provides names for five angels
Among Protestant communities, the Anglican traditions recognize three to five angels as archangels
Lutherans only recognise Michael, Gabriel, and sometimes Raphael
In the view of the Baptist evangelist Billy Graham, Sacred Scripture explicitly described one being as an archangel—Michael—in Jude 1:9.[41][42]
Seventh-day Adventists hold that the titles "Michael" and "archangel" are in reference to Jesus.
