It really bugs me for MANY reasons, the first being that protestants branched off of Catholicism.

Protestants or Anglicans or whatever are actually very similar to each other.
It is the new age pentecostal and charismatic movement that are the ones that cry foul.

Absolute ignorance. These people are in serious need of a history lesson, Martin Luther anyone? People who follow the teaching of, and worship Christ are called Christians. Catholics worship Christ therefore they are Christians. Common sense goes a long way.

There is always a way to deflect from what is taught to what is thought. My brother is Catholic, and he is a wonderful man and Christian. People like this need to look in the mirror and decide, which plank is bigger, the one in their eye, or their brothers?

It is truly a shame. We will know them by their fruit. I know my fruit has been sour at times, but it is because of the blood of Christ that has been poured over me, wherein I can commune with God and speak with Him freely. the same goes for any denomination that truly believes, Catholic or not.

They say it because they feel Rome corrupted the purity of the original Christian faith and brought in paganism, idols (statues) and deified Mary and replaced relationship with ritual etc. Many go even as far as calling the RCC the "great whor* spoken about in the revelation and also say the pope is the antichrist.

YouTube - Revelation 17 ***** Babylon Antichrist - Part 1

Anyway - I am not necessarily agreeing with these views, BUT I know they are the views of many many protestant evangelicals. Protestant fundamentalists claim that Catholics are NOT following Christ but are following a false religion which uses the name of Christ.

I'm curious to know if what I've heard is consistent with the reasons told to you. Or did they just make the statement with no explanation?

In either case - I hope I was helpful in answering your question.

It's because they think the Way, the Truth and Life is a doctrine.

Hail Mary...confession....praying to saints....acting like the pope dude is god....purgatory....Okay I know I am not a Christian. But I used to be. And it seems like all these things are againts what the Bible actually teaches. Especially the praying to saints thing! The Bible says that Jesus is the mediator...not saint whatshisname.

I think I will just let God do the judgments and I will continue to do my best to live by His teachings about loving one another, and not causing them to stumble because of my pride or self righteousness
