Parts of Cincinnati to avoid?
City Hall, County Building, OTR, West End, UDF & Jeff Ruby's. LMAO!

Hotwire is in fact a great service... but yes you need to have a general idea of safety of areas. However, in general when "stars" are awarded to a hotel, the surrounding area is taken into account. Therefore it would be very hard for a GREAT hotel in a TERRIBLE part of town to get more than 2 stars.
By the way, I used Hotwire 4 years ago to stay in Toronto. Got a 4 start hotel that was actually my first choice (knew exactly where it was at and everything) for about $98 a night. For Toronto a GREAT price. When I clicked "yes" and they told me the hotel name I was so excited!! So it really can be a great service ... but, to add to that, Toronto (downtown) doesn't have very many "bad" areas..
good luck!

That should be good. Let us know how your trip goes and what you think of this hotel.

For unique experience that will not break the budget (probably less than $100 a night) I recommend the Mariemont Inn...it was built in the 1920's, English Tudor style, and has a very good restaurant, the National Exemplar, which has one of the top two Sunday brunches in Cincinnati. You will not be disappointed!! Look it up online.

I was able to get weekday nights for $35/night at the Millenium hotel which is downtown through Priceline - they give you areas and I picked two star hotels - they upgraded me to 2 1/2 stars and put me in the Millenium.
This is probably too late for your trip but something to keep in mind if you come through here again.
