why are you guys being offensive ? I don't waste time in debates . i may sounded a little bit paranoid at first but it s because of the stats and because my wife will be alone .

Anyways long story short , you guys have helped so thank you a lot but no need for any bashing !!

Plus Kjbril , I think I will end up at garfield , don't know why , but I looked at the other 2 complexes you have sent me , Garfield looked better . my question though from garfield to UC is closer or from Hyde-park , Mt lookout etc... is more close ?

The other thing , is living in downtown better or in suburbans like hyde-park , Mt look out , oakley or even gaslight district at clifton I am talking as far as fun , things to do , walking ? I think downtown is better right ?

Evergore...

Garfield is probably closer to UC. East to Vine then straight up Vine to the UC area. But Hyde Park is not that much different.

I personally would prefer Hyde Park simply because of environment. I add to that your wife will be alone. I would like the idea of her being able to walk or drive around Hyde Park where I have no reservations. A single woman roaming around the concrete canyons of downtown is to me a much less desirable situation. She may be the one who feels like she has a lock on her.

The reviews I found on Garfield Towers were to me far too much negativity. I realize that some people are not satisfied even if waited on hand and foot. But some of the statements concerning lack of response from management and the maintenance staff were disturbing.

I strongly advise not only visiting to appraise the exact apartment you will be renting plus spending enough time to go through most of the public areas of the building just to get a feel about overall conditioning.

I warned the two buildings I referenced to you in Hyde Park are getting a little long in the tooth, being some 50 years old. But The Madison House was a first grade property and I cannot believe its premium Hyde Park location has not resulted in good upkeep. Look at the greenspace around it, it is like a park. If anything, I would guess the rental rates are higher than you want to pay. And much of the building is sold condos as is also true of the Regency. So the rental portion is reduced.

Downtown has enjoyed a tremendous revival, I am told spearheaded by young urban professionals. I am also told they only desire a place to sleep and bathe because they will be concentrating on the playground which surrounds them, not the home. If this is your bag then join them. Somehow I get the feeling you are not part of that mold.

Make sure you check them out thoroughly before signing anything. I would not even be opposed to going to the building, knocking on a couple of doors, explaining why you are there, and simply inquiring what is their degree of satisfaction with the way the building is run. I cannot think of much worse than signing a lease then finding out I am in a sub-par facility.

Grandin House is another Hyde Park location. From location it should be just fine. All of these high rise buildings have the same concerns, as none of them are exactly new. What is the rent? What is the condition of the specific unit you would be renting? How is the current management responding to any issues, particularly maintenance, you may have? I just suggest at least a personal tour of the premises is in order before committing to anything.

I recommend the Clifton gas light district but recommend not ruling out downtown if you want to be sure things are always happening and in a fun safe place. Just stay out of the burbs for extended periods of time you'll be brainwashed.
