Whenever I hear about these things, I'm reminded of a line from an old Lee Marvin movie..."you don't murder animals, you kill 'em." I have no sympathy for those who maim and kill with so little remorse over petty and childish issues, and seldom do I have sympathy for the victim, for if they had been on the other end of the gun, surely the result would have been the same. In the aftermath of this "shootout", they find a 20 year old "man" dead in Goose Alley, and the news was trying to play up the fact that we should feel sorry because he was a father of 5 with a 6th on the way! Whatever, I'd be surprised if he knew all of their last names.

Fortunately, the rest of us have little to fear, because the only ones that seem to be dying are the fools who aren't smart enough to remove themselves from the thug lifestyle.

It just seems things were simpler when the whole area was just Clifton without all the breakdown and disection.

I was looking at the OPs posts and they all seem to be negative about OTR. He has something against it.

But that is a pattern in Cincinnati, whereby neighborhoods attempt to differentiate themselves from areas that would detract from their image. It's also an attempt to demonstrate that my needs in this area should be catered to differently from the guy's two blocks away.

Examples: East Walnut Hills/Walnut Hills, Westwood/East Westwood, East Price Hill/West Price Hill/Covedale (the latter not being a recognized neighborhood), even Oakley and Hyde Park.

I can't think of another city that has this kind of officially sanctioned micro-provincialism.

I just moved to OTR by Elm and 9th, I don't see any problem with the area at all. I safely park my car outside and have not had one issue yet.

As this thread continues I'd like to remind you all that since you're all fighting over the same old thing you've fought many times before, maybe this time you could do it using facts and informed opinions instead of personal attacks and whatnot.
Think about it, try it.
Yac.

Price tags in a gentrified area:

Every 3BR condo in that Mt Adams building is over $875k. Way more than half are over $1 million.

This simple 2BR 2BA unit is $715k.

Your top example still has vacant units that have never been occupied for a reason. Furthermore, Mt. Adams is past gentrified. It's unique location (views, history) and lack of industry up on the mountain create a purely residential area with a sense of community that drives up prices.

Your second "simple" 2BR 2BA unit includes a 2 story terraced porch that has an amazing view of downtown/river and an elevator, among other things. The bathrooms are also all top-notch and the kitchen has top level appliances. Far from simple.
