We are moving to Cincinnati, my son is going into 7th grade in the fall--what catholic elementary schools have a real good football program?

Don't know about elementary schools, but I'd start with Moeller High School and research backwards.

Moeller? Try St. Xavier, 2007 State Champs. (alum., sorry had to throw that in.) I went to elementary school right next to Moeller at All Saints in Montgomery. It had a good program in the 80's - most guys went to start for Moeller, FWIW. Frankly - on the west side of town, the schools that feed Elder, La Salle, Colerain and St. Xavier (pulls city-wide) produce more & better athletes. You may sacrifice academics a bit, but if football is key - find a school that feeds Elder. If you think he can pass the toughest entrance exam in Cincinnati, I'd target St. Xavier for H.S. given its dominance in both academics, athletes and producing modest adults

Yeah MOELLER! I am a Moe Mom and proud of it. My son is a freshman and played football this year. He has the best grades he has ever had and loves school. Cant say enough good things about MOE...start at the Moeller High school web page and find its feeder schools. If your kid loves football, he will love Moeller. They work my son year round and it keeps him busy and happy. St. X is within walking distance from us and we chose Moe...

What side of town are you moving to? Cincinnati is divided by East siders and west siders.

I know Assumption was always pretty good at football too. I know they tried to get my son to come play for them but we decided against it (needed to stay with his own school and friends) anyone know any more info about them? It is kinda hard to keep track of them with the consolidation of some schools. I know St. Barts is a consolidated school as well and they were always fun to play sports against...they are very competitive and have a lot of great kids.

I think St. Gertrudes was in the CYO football finals for this year's 6th grade. Great school, large and beautiful new school building, great parish manned by the Dominican priests and sisters, in Madeira and surrounded by Kenwood and Indian Hill.

Boys at St. Gerts divide fairly equally between Moeller and X, so there's continuity there (and car-pooling - hah!). Thinking ahead, I know you can take the bus to X, so I'm assuming you can do so for Moeller, as well.

Yes there is busing for MOE...but where we live we are not eligible BUT we do get paid about $150 for transportation reimbursement.
