What can you say about Cincinnati Ohio and around area (Northern Kentucky)? (Cleveland: crime rates, big house)

The Cincinnati area is a great place to grow up, get an education, have a career, find a spouse, raise children, and live your life. It's a safe and affordable place to live. Most people in my neighborhood and place of work still believe in respect, responsibility, hard work, honesty, and the Golden Rule. The worst thing about Cincinnati is the winter weather, but if the cold doesn't bother you that won't be an issue.

Actually, with all due respect to Sunnydee, the winter weather isn't all that bad. More than anything, they are rainy and the temperatures hover in the 40s and 50s - and even get into the 60s. Yes, we get snow, but it generally doesn't happen much until the end of January and through February. But it doesn't last long - usually melts off within a few days. We occasionally get ice storms, but it's mostly just rain in the winters around here.

Everything else....it all depends on what you're interested in. It would probably be easier if you asked questions about specific aspects of the area. What Sunnydee said is true, but it can likewise be said of many cities around the country.

I agree about the winters.

I lived in Northern Kentucky for three years and loved it. I was in close proximity of a lot of fun things to do in the city, seeing as it was only about a five minute drive from my house. It is a beautiful area with lots of woods, rolling hills, and nature to look at.

I moved here a few months ago from Florida and I absolutely love this place. There's many things to do around the city and you dont have to drive far to have a good time. I havent experienced cincy's winters but i look forward to some snow being from FL. There are plenty of nice affordable neighborhoods, entertainment,great people and terrific food. I have enjoyed this being a tri-state area (Oh-Ky-In) I've been to Newport on the Levee(KY), Argosy Casino (IN),cincy is underrated. IMHO you've pick a nice city to relocate to. Agreed. Anywhere in the tri-state you move to, you will find a lot of things to do and be fine. In my opinion, one of the most underrated and overlooked places in the country to move to. Absolutely loved it here.

Look into Northern Kentucky for housing, in my opinion they have great school districts, low taxes, low housing costs, big houses for the cost, among other great things.

If I had to pick anything bad about Cincinnati, I would mention the crime rates in a select few areas of the city. But as long as you avoid those areas you should do well.

I would describe the area (suburbs) as small town living with a city-like feel. You get the best of both worlds without having it pushed into your face (Chicago).

That is pretty funny. In fact that is really laughable. Winter in Cincinnati bad..haha....come up to Cleveland during the winter and see how it compares to the "dreadful" winters in Cincy.

I think winter in Cincy could just be more of a pain rather than "bad". It snows...but turns slushy quicker which just makes things messy. You have the rolling hills and there is a lot to do...sports, the zoo (just went today with my husband), shopping, dining...I mean, it's no Chicago (in terms of size and things to do)...but still nice.

Key word there being "average".

Yeah, the 60s is stretching it a bit, inasmuch as it's rare - but you have to admit we've had more than a couple of Winters in the past decade in which we've seen a string of days with temps in the 50s, and even 60s. Of course, in that same time period we've also seen 3 snowfalls of 12"-20" each. So it all averages out. The main thing to remember is that Cincinnati winters are NOT the end of the world that so many people across the country make them out to be. It's actually more mild around here in the Winter than a lot of people think.
