Cincinnati is included in the Upper South as published by the National Gardening Association. Does Cincinnati have more in common with the South or the Midwest.

The National Gardening Association is concerned with climate, not culture.

^ I second Ohiogirl81.

Why on earth would you take a climate designation and make a poll about a cultural classification?

This is a no brainer to me.

Coming from someone that's lived in Mississippi near Memphis (MS/TN border), which is known as the "mid-south" ... Northern KY and even Louisville are more Midwestern than southern.

I also question why the NGA reference is being used?!

I disagree about Louisville. Louisville is culturally Southern, very different from Cincinnati. Northern Kentucky is a hybrid of both.

For persons not from around these here parts (haha, we're all hicks, right?), for Louisville, think Memphis Tennessee; for Lexington, think Vicksburg Mississippi without most of the black people. Cincinnati is a thing all its own. It is a combination of Shaker Heights, Indianapolis, Gary Indiana, and Charleston, West Virginia.

When you are growing a GARDEN or planting vegetables, Cincinnati has a more similar climate to the south than the rest of the midwest.

Gardeners who realize this can generally produce more vegetables during the growing season.

Midwestern by all means. I feel Louisville is the transitional area between the MIdwest and The Upper South with some of it's suburbs being in Midwestern Indiana.
