Chicago and LA? Don't think so. Chicago has one of the best public transportation in this country, LA not so much and I think that alone separates them.
I agree with your last statement though.
I don't see how ONE aspect such as public transit makes LA and Chicago incomparable. They both are somewhat close in population, at least more so than other cities, and both offers similar amount amenities and such. Outside of the Loop, River North, and lakefront areas Chicago actually reminded of LA in ways; lots of garden-style apartments, huge grid street pattern, strip malls, little main st-type commercial area, etc..
The worst kind of troll goes out of his region to only provoke and create trouble. I'm glad to see that the mods have closed down some of your posts and hopefully will ban you soon. You are an ugly person.

as far as stature, economy, head of their regions, transportation, ports, population, education, etc.they are in a tier all by themselves in my research, nyc is all alone above them and works the world markets both politically and economically in a way they can't, and there are about 4 cities just below them in the next tier. I didn't mean in terms of looking alike or having anything in common, just that they are on the same level albeit for different reasons.
Atlanta? I have no idea! The closest thing I can think of is a opposite equal kinda. Phoenix dominates the Southwest desert, it sprawls across the desert, it's inland. Atlanta dominates the Southeast, it sprawls across forested foot hills, it's inland. If any one have a better peer let me know because I have no idea.
To me Charlotte feels like a smaller version of Atlanta
Tough question. Probably Houston with Phoenix a close second.
