See thats the difference between Houston and real cities. In a real city I can live in the suburbs and still not need a car. (Cars are definitley more convenient but not a necessity)

there are people living in sunbelt suburbs without cars. just a few weeks ago in another thread, i was telling my story of how i lived on the outskirts of san antonio (sprawls way worse than houston) and did just fine....

It's possibly to do it anywhere. But I wouldn't recommend it. It is mostly a nightmare if you must try to get into the city center of Houston.
Oh and yeah, I made it to the Chi and love every second of it. Don't think I'll be going back to DC.

I'll visit because I have family there from time to time. But there's so many reasons why I prefer Chicago to DC that it's laughable. I love DC. But IMO, Chicago is a much more superior city.
