Seattle, San Diego, Phoenix, Denver, Portland, Minneapolis/Saint Paul
Rate the allure of these cities from the city that is most appealing and interesting (or your favorite) to the one that is the least.
Some things that you can talk about are the things that interest you about these cities; location, history, sense of place/culture, food, activities and events, night scene, scenery, weather, entertainment, wildlife and hiking, amenities, cosmopolitanism, job market, safety and general wellness, livability, and things of that nature.
I like all of the cities, by the way, for extremely various and divergent reasons for each one, and have been to all of them minus Minneapolis/Saint Paul. I could live in these places, they're pretty good but also curious to see what other people think and how they would rate each one, or at least their favorite ones.
What appeals to me:
1. Seattle
2. San Diego
3. Phoenix
4. Portland
5. Denver / Minneapolis
What I think the poll will look like:
1. Seattle
2. San Diego
3. Denver
4. Minneapolis
5. Portland
6. Phoenix
haha spot on the love affair with Denver on this site is beyond strange, and the immense amount of hate for Phoenix on this site is even stranger. (Portland also seems to not get the full credit it deserves on this site either, which is odd). My person preference is San Diego/Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, Denver, then Minn.

What is strange about the love of Denver? Its got it going on! So much going on! Great scenery, educated workforce, very fit residents, great sports teams/fans, great cultural institutes, epic airport, large mass transit system growing every day, dense and active downtown! Top 10 fastest growing city for years on end for a reason!!!!!

Denver is a great city. Fastest-growing than the others the past five years for sure percentage-wise, but still smaller population increase than Phoenix and Seattle:
Denver MSA: 10.65%
Phoenix MSA: 9.1%
Seattle MSA: 8.54%
Portland MSA: 7.33%
San Diego MSA: 6.6%
Minneapolis MSA: 5.25%
Now let's compare population increase 2010-2015
Phoenix MSA: 381,644
Seattle MSA: 293,771
Denver MSA: 270,848
San Diego MSA: 204,208
Minneapolis MSA: 175,724
Portland MSA: 163,219
Seattle is the "big city" of the group. It leads by a large margin in:
--Greater-downtown residential population and density
--Greater-downtown workforce
--Downtown retail district
--Core municipality population density
--Overseas air connections
--Public transit ridership per capita, whether city or metro
--Core development
--Skyline
--Connection to Asia culturally, in business, etc. In residents too, except that we're nearly tied with San Diego depending on the geography you're counting.
That said, I love Portland and like sizeable aspects of most of the others.
1. Seattle
2. Portland
3. Minneapolis
4. Denver
5. San Diego
6. Phoenix
1. Seattle
2. Portland
3. Minneapolis
4. San Diego
5. Denver
6. Phoenix
Mainly attracted to urban areas with vibrancy, walkability, and transit. Significant secondary factors are cost and Asian influences.
