This comparison is rare and probably has not been done before to this extent or ever.

So the criteria would be:
- Life style
- Economy overall
- Education (K-12 & higher ed)
- Metropolitan Area population (MSA)
- City Area population (city proper)
- Professional Sports
- City Scape (downtown, skyline, notable buildings)
- Public Transportation
- Major Interstates and other roads (optional)
- Airport
- Housing
- Food (Ethnic food, unique food of it's own, etc..)
- Proximity to other locations
- Diversity (people and culture)
- Economy growth and diversity (Post Recession climate)
- Art galleries
- Music scene
- Museums
- Parks
- Shopping
- Climate (which you prefer, and why?)
- Anything else you can possibly think up and want to add

You don't have to answer all the criteria but just attempt some of them at least and give a reason why you picked the city that you picked if you are not even going to attempt the criteria.
Pictures are more than welcome, and I encourage them in this thread along with any other kind of information.

I am sort of shocked that Miami leads this 4-0. I figured this was yet another thread intended to bash Miami.

I definitely pick Boston. These 2 cities just should not be compared though, completely different. I like the Boston skyline and downtown better because its not a sprawling stretched out skyline.

- Life style: Boston
- Economy overall: Boston
- Education (K-12 & higher ed): BOSTON
- Metropolitan Area population (MSA): Boston
- City Area population (city proper): Boston
- Professional Sports: Miami
- City Scape (downtown, skyline, notable buildings): Miami
- Public Transportation: Boston
- Major Interstates and other roads (optional): Miami
- Airport: Miami
- Housing: Boston
- Food (Ethnic food, unique food of it's own, etc..): Boston
- Proximity to other locations: BOSTON
- Diversity (people and culture): MIAMI
- Economy growth and diversity (Post Recession climate): Miami
- Art galleries: Tie
- Music scene: Miami
- Museums: Boston
- Parks: Boston
- Shopping: Miami
- Climate (which you prefer, and why?): Boston- I like 4 seasons

Boston- 12
Miami- 8

Boston is the more historic city. I like being surrounded by history and age old architecture (especially when revitalized). The waterfront in Miami is WAY better than Boston's.

Overall, Boston.

So the criteria would be:
- Life style: Miami, I just love beach areas

- Economy overall: Boston

- Education (K-12 & higher ed): Boston

- Metropolitan Area population (MSA): Miami metropolitan area is about 5.5 million or so. Boston's MSA is 4.4 million. So Miami wins.

- City Area population (city proper): Boston, for now.

- Professional Sports: I hate all of Boston's teams besides the Red Sox & Celtics, they are legit. Miami has a baller basketball team now. I say Boston.

- City Scape (downtown, skyline, notable buildings): Miami all day, Boston's skyline is a disgrace.

- Public Transportation: Boston all day.

- Major Interstates and other roads (optional): Tie.

- Airport: Boston Logan > MIA!

- Housing: Mediterranean style homes in Miami son!

- Food (Ethnic food, unique food of it's own, etc..): Miami! I hate Boston's food besides their European food (Italian, French, etc..)

- Proximity to other locations: Miami, I like the idea of visiting the Caribbean, even if it requires passport. Cruise! Not some nice little town with (insert name of region here) charm".

- Diversity (people and culture): Miami, very diverse city, racially and ethnically. Boston feels kind of generic racially.

- Economy growth and diversity (Post Recession climate): Boston has stability.

- Art galleries: Boston

- Music scene: Miami all day! But Sam Adams: Boston Boy is great.

- Museums: Boston

- Parks: Tie

- Shopping: Miami all day.

- Climate (which you prefer, and why?): Miami, because everyday is beach day.

- Anything else you can possibly think up and want to add:
- Beautiful blue waters: Miami
- Great bar and club scene: Miami

Overall: Miami is my preferred choice. Boston's cool (literally) but Miami is hot (literally pun intended), if you like a stable economy, history, admirable old architecture, and winter then Boston is your city of choice. If you like beaches, really cool beach style homes, party, fun, not feeling old, beautiful new modern looking skyline, great ethnic variety then its Miami all day.

Of which I only like winter and economy, but Miami is fun 24/7 type of city (if you know how to have fun!)

Indeed they are, but isn't that all the more reason to compare the two?
I think it's sure to be one of the more interesting battles.

Yeah which is more of a reason to compare them. Personally Miami is a great city, and more people need to come to terms that it is in fact a real city not some resort town. (Not talking about you but others on here)
Miami is great at what it does, so does Boston.

Thats fine that you do. Architecturally everyone has their opinion. But lets not make Boston's skyline out to be something its not though, it is weird enough when people act like it has a grand tall skyline. It doesn't. Also when it has a massive skyline to be a skyscraper city. Its not and it doesn't. (Not talking about you, but once again others on here)

By size, Boston's skyline is pathetic in height and sheer number of buildings. I don't care if the airport is nearby or not, many cities have faced that same problem before. Miami has to deal with the FAA canceling majority of its supertall plans because of the airport situation.
Quite frankly I love San Jose & Phoenix but just like Boston they have a pathetic skyline. (Especially for their size) Phoenix & San Jose have beautiful mountains and scenery though and Boston has a great waterfront.

Miami is becoming a true skyscraper city, Manhattanization has benefited the city quite nicely. And it can brag about its height compared to Boston and also its sheer size compared to Boston.
