IMO when it comes to Hip Hop/Rap there are five cities/regions in this country that stand above all others, they are: New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Atlanta, Houston.

Honorable Mentions: Philly, Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, Florida.

The bay area seems to lack any distinctive sound. One song soundslike Texas rap, another sounds midwestern, another sounds like LA. Figure out who you are already.

No offense to Houston, I'm sure their rap has a large and faithfull following, but to me it sounds extremely tacky.

Actually, a lot of those other regions got their sound from the Bay Area. Also, Mob music and much of gangsta rap is distinctly a Bay Area sound.

If your talking Mainstream wise; I agree. However, Houston has one of the best underground hip hop scenes in the country.
