Virginia - Roanoke, its the only reasonably sized city in the mountains. Most people think of NoVA, Richmond, Williams burg, or Hampton Roads when they think of VA

DC- yeah, yeah, there is only on city in the district but the black sheep is definitely southeast below the anacostia. People talk worse about it than baltimore

New Jersey - not from there but Camden is jersey whipping boy

Florida - Jacksonville sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the summery/entertainment style of the keys, tampa, Orlando, Miami, etc.

For Louisiana it's hard to say. I know eveyone thinks New Orleans is synonymous with Louisiana but it's actually culturely different from the rest of the state. It's majority catholic not part of the southern bible belt and it's liberal. You can actually say that about other places in the southern region of that state which are truly unique from each other and New Orleans.
I would have to say for Louisiana
Monroe (if your image of Louisiana is of creole and cajun culture)
and New Orleans or Lafayette if your image is of the old south.

True, Toledo would be the black sheep city. But southeastern Ohio would without a doubt be the black sheep region.

i'd have to say here - cincinnati - is ohio's black sheep. it developed very differently and at a different time than the rest of ohio's cities; we don't get the snow that much of ohio is known for; the area has never been an agricultural center; it is hilly and farming is quite uncommon. cincinnatians don't root (by and large) for Ohio State University athletics - we have our own pro and college teams to be concerned with. some people question whether or not the city is even in the midwest.

this place often feels like its own city-state. even dayton, just 40 miles to the north is "up there" and quite unexplored if not altogether unknown by the locals.

to me the "classic ohio cities" are columbus, cleveland, and akron. as an aside, even though columbus is closer to cincinnati than cleveland, columbusers go for cleveland sports.

and for the rest of New England..

Connecticut - Bridgeport
Rhode Island - Pawtucket (the bucket)
New Hampshire - Rochester (Rottenchester), Laconia as well.
Vermont - St. Johnbury
Maine - Lewiston, Sanford second.
100% agree. Springfield though people tend to forget about it more han bash it. And Lawrence also. That is Boston's whipping post. Remember all the Mayor Lantigua scandals?

Springfield is really the only city is Massachusetts outside of Bostons sphere of Influence, with its own Media Market and to-be independent Commuter rail.
