I personally am not interested in living in Los Angeles(not that it's a bad city), but like NYC there is no duplicating what makes the city what it is.

Now that I think of it, most (if not all) cities have a unique cultural and economic engine that makes it what it is.

I would say, some parts of Phoenix, the Houston energy, a city in Mexico and Cabo San lucas Mx in some parts.

Not too many cities like it. It's got incredible density over a large area, but it's built nothing like the dense cities that boomed in previous centuries. The topography is very unique, especially among major cities, because its so split by the terrain.

I think the closest city I can think of is bits of San Diego.
