The Macon, Athens and Chattanooga MSAs are already part of the Atlanta CMA in my opinion, but there's a whole lot of nothing (including Alabama's highest mountain range) between Atlanta and Birmingham now for that to happen. Besides, and as somebody already pointed out, Birmingham just IS NOT GROWING. Eventually, it won't even be the largest city in Alabama anymore if Mobile keeps up its pace.
No one is jealous of Atlanta IMO... no one wants to go to Atlanta for scenery, no diversity, bad economy (10% unemployment), 3rd rate architecture (big and boxy buildings), 3rd rate food scene, low wages for McMansions, high crime rates, bad transit systems, no urban life centers, 3rd rate amenities, and 3rd rate sports teams. No beaches, no valleys, no canyons, bad weather, bad location, culture shock, IMO

Your link doesnt work, probably made up but here BEA : Per Capita Personal Income by MSA for 2009 \<a href="#footnote">1</a> (http://www.bea.gov/regional/reis/mrius.cfm - broken link)
Cool list bruh, but what do Georgia and Alabama have to do with Birmingham being superior in per capita income to Atlanta?
Median household income is commonly used to provide data about geographic areas and divides households into two equal segments with the first half of households earning less than the median household income and the other half earning more.[1]The median income is considered by many statisticians to be a better indicator than the average household income as it is not dramatically affected by unusually high or low values."
METRO AREAS RANKED BY MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD INCOME
1. San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose -- $63,024
2. Washington-Baltimore -- $57,291
3. Anchorage -- $55,546
4. Minneapolis-St. Paul -- $54,304
5. Boston-Worcester-Lawrence -- $52,792
6. Hartford -- $52,188 7. ATLANTA -- $51,914 --- 12. New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island -- $50,795
--- 124. BIRMINGHAM -- $39,278
Ya thats fine and dandy and all but your link doesnt open.. and that doesnt look believable, Atlanta has a higher median income than NYC? LMAO!!
