What major cities in the U.S. do you believe have the biggest bar culture? Meaning pretty much what most people do is drink at bars any given day the week and also there are an overwhelming amount of bars. Please just keep it to bars and not clubs.

From my experience Milwaukee and Chicago have a huge bar scene. Pretty much nightlife revolves around what bar you will be going to and from Thursday-Saturday nights bars are usually packed in more popular areas and bars are everywhere in both cities. There are literally 5 bars within a 5 minute walking distance here in Chicago from where I live, and my neighborhood is not known bars and lacksany nightlife.

I was actually disappointed with Boston. While it does seem to have a strong bar culture, I thought it would have been much stronger than Chicago's and Milwaukee's but did not find it that way. It was still good, but not what I was expecting.

I think Miami and Las Vegas have the worst! They are great cities for clubbing but not for just going to your typical neighborhood bar. Las Vegas drinks are too expensive and Miami is too clubby. Los Angeles also had some of the coolest bars I have ever seen, however, the bar culture in general was somewhat lacking in IMO. L.A. is also definitely more clubby.

What about you, what have your experiences been?

I hear that the Midwest has the bar scene locked down. That must be the case if you think Boston doesn't have bars. NYC has a lot of bars as well.

Going to the bar is what people in the Midwest do for fun in my experience. I voted for Milwaukee although Chicago isn't too far behind. Milwaukee is the hardest drinking city in the country, statistically Wisconsin is the binge drinking capitol of the US.

Minneapolis is more of a club city, St Paul is definitely the more bar oriented of the two.

Milwaukee. I think WI is the biggest alcoholic out of the 50 of US.

Look at Milwaukee's MLB teams name. The Milwaukee "Brewers". Does this count as an answer? But no seriously, Milwaukee is a very nice bar town. Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, & New York are also high up there too.

I would agree that Chicago has this one locked down.

However, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle all have very solid bar scenes. All 3 are filled with neighborhood bars, as well as thriving bar districts.

I imagine places like Boston, NYC, Philly, Chicago, Cleveland, and per the OP likely a place like Milwaukee (Though I personally have not spent enough time there to know) would be among the top. There are probably quite a few and these stick out based on my travels. I think I read somewhere Hoboken has the highest concentration of bars in America, and having lived there I would agree that it also is somewhat of continuance of NYC and definately a bar town.

Honestly though from what I can tell there are pretty good bars all over the country

I saw Bourbon street, well yeah but that is more a touristy area and not sure if that is the same vibe, though a very concentration of bars.
