I think Toronto and Chicago are extremely similar, however, Chicago has the slight edge, and I think just has more to offer, but only by a little. They are neck in neck IMO.

It's close, but I have to go with Toronto. Why? It's in Canada, which I feel offers a greater quality of life than the U.S.

That's an excellent point, sometimes I wish Chicago was in Canada.

I think Chicago is more diverse. The white population is very diverse as well, and Toronto is nowhere near as Polish, Irish, Jewish and Italian.

Toronto has the largest native Italian population (Italians born in Italy) in the entire world outside of Italy obviously. There are more native Italians living in the GTA (Toronto metro) than the entire US.

Stats or source?

Chicago has way more Poles, Jews and Irish. It's a very diverse city and so is Toronto. Maybe I shouldn't have said it's MORE diverse than Toronto but it's very diverse and closer to equal. The white population of Chicago is very ethnic!

I think Chicago wins this one by a good margin. Toronto has no unique character, it's pretty much just what Detroit would be today if it hadn't gone downhill.
