Charlotte really does not feel that large compared to a city like Houston or DFW. I think compared to other cities in the Piedmont it feels large, but when you go from Charlotte to DFW or Charlotte to Houston, it feels like small potatoes. Not hating, just sayin.

I honestly do not believe they had any choice but to run the lines where they currently are at now. Mostly because it is a commuter rail system. If they ran rail like Houston did, then you would have to wonder what in the world DART was doing. But because this is a commuter system, you almost have to run it where they can have it's own away from already developed areas.

Explain how Atlanta would have a million people in its city limits if it was Charlottes size???

Charlotte has also other business districts:

University City

Southpark

Ballantyne

Whitehall Commons

albeit none of them have skyscrapers due to a city ordinance restricting skyscrapers to uptown Charlotte

in fact as of right now Charlottes downtown is actually the largest in the southeast excluding Miami.....

The point our friend was trying to make whom you quoted is that due to a high percentage of Charlottes 1.8 million metro population living within one county the city itself feels bigger then its 1.8 million metro as opposed to the city of Atlanta having a low percentage of people actually living in the city versus the metro with its 5 million people.... Houston and Dallas also have a higher number of people in their metros living in the actual cities themselves as opposed to Atlanta....
Your about to get swallowed whole in a few you always set yourself up for failure everytime. QC dreamin you really need to stop.

Quit making new accounts.. This has been explain and proven to that poster several times and they insist on trying to make Charlotte more than what it is

I'm sorry dude, but Charlotte is out of it's league dealing with Atlanta

He posted facts that the counties are similar sized and have the same population. That is not Charlottes city limits population.. 2 Of Atlantas couties could make up just about the whole Charlottes MSA. And when you look at both counties you clearly can see which one is way more deveoped. There is still farm land in Charlottes city limits. Lets view the facts for him one more time which he already has been proven wrong so many times and his eager to boost Charlotte like no other is crazy.

Charlotte is larger in population than Atlanta because it covers a much larger area through annexations. Charlotte is 280 square miles, Atlanta is 132 square miles. If we had census numbers for 280 square miles for Atlanta...there would be well over 1 million residents. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with Charlotte being 280 square miles, but just that it is much more expansive than Atlanta, but not necessarily more populated. It's easy to tell that Atlanta is a bigger city - just by looking at and comparing the two.

This is not about Charlotte which a Charlotte poster as turned this into so lets drop it and stay on topic

How do you come up with that??

Kinda hard since there isn't even a million people in all of Fulton county which is 530 sq miles.

Because you can spread Atlanta into Dekalb, Cobb ,Clayton, heavy populated counties. Part of Atlantas city limits are already in Dekalb county. Look at the way Fulton county is shaped. Look at where Atlanta sits in it.

This was broken down for him some time ago in one of the Charlotte vs Atlanta threads..
