Eventually I think Miami will. It has a great coastal position.

Why not, Miami is unique. I once myself thought terrible of the city but it has improvements and far better city than Atlanta.

The question is what kind of industry will sustain growth in Miami in upcoming years?

They are one economic boom from adding another 20% to the population. Tourism is huge and it is not only a tourist destination but airline and banking hub for many others. I think Miami is like California, it booms hard in the boom periods and falls hard in crashes but overall it keeps growing.

I suspect no, Atlanta has a lot more area and seems to be growing again from the inside out. As this continues and more neighborhoods become gentrified the density will likely grow and Atlanta can support many more people in the area within the city borders
