Miami is chilly and smoggy? What are you smoking down there in San Diego? Miami gets cold snaps compared to Hawaii but NOT compared to San Diego or LA.

And Miami's air quality and beaches are as clean or cleaner than San Diego's. Show me ONE picture of smog in Miami....ever.

You make it sound like LA's climate is far more extreme than San Diego. That is simply not the case. The climates are nearly identical, expect San Diego gets slightly LESS rain. Otherwise, they are nearly indentical (assuming same position from the coast). Inland San Diego is scorching hot in summer, no less than inland LA.

Other then Air Quality.....LA is not less or more polluted than San Diego. And forget SD beaches anywhere near the border. Dreadful cesspools.

LA is "expensive"......compared to San Diego? The housing markets are both about the same. But LA has BETTER paying jobs and more of them. SD has bio-tech, beach bums, military, and tourism and not much else. Lawyers were flipping burgers in San Diego long before the recession.

newport beach may average 70 on its warmest month but it definitely doesn't average 70 over the entire year.

Miami is one of the cleanest major cities in the world. Miami probably has the cleanest air and water in the U.S. for a city its size. Not sure where the smog comes in. Does Miami get a rare smog, yes. It is usually due to large fires in the everglades or dust from africa.
