It would seem logical that the poorest states would have the fewest number of people who could afford international travel, would it not?
It would make more sense if there was actual data to support one's theory. would it not? I was just curious if you had seen actual data on this.
And being less wealthy should not deter travel.. esp to countries where the USD is stronger. Lots of poorer Americans do travel to MX border towns.
I've stayed at a Novotel in Chiang Mai and a luxury hotel in Nusa Dua/Bali for 35 a night. A B&B in Luang Prabang for 12. I even payed less when I was in Bayon and Yangon.
So travel does not have to be expensive.

Many college students with tight budgets travel to Europe.
On the flip side, is their any data you have that disproves it?
And the point with college students. Education probably plays some role as well.
I'm stating this as absolute fact, but I would bet you could find a positive correlation between wealth, education, and foreign travel.

No you posted it first and come across as this is an absolute so Im asking.
And I posted prices I paid for my hotels on my trip to SE Asia (Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong). Airfare was 850 all inclusive on Malaysia Air out of Newark.

Unfortunately Malaysia doesn't fly to Newark anymore
Cathay Pacific has Access Asia passes but they have more restrictions.
My deal allowed me unlimited travel to almost all of their SE Asian destinations for 30 days.
I still dream of going back to Luang Prabang....

You paddling your canoe there? Family of 4 would probably want to fly though and would be looking at about $5,000-$6,000 just to get to Thailand.
Traveling around many countries is not expensive at all but getting there is a different story. Bottom line is travel is usually a bit expensive.
