What's Worchester? I lived in MA for 30 years. Never heard of the place.
Maybe thats because the locals have pronouncing it as Wooster for centuries. Perhaps the spelling should have been updated lol?
Perhaps also, Worchester should have been made the capital of Massachusetts. Now here me out!
Many states* have moved their capitals inland from the coast. Some for safety reasons, states moved their capitals inland in order to get them out of reach of the Royal Navy. More importantly, they wanted the capital to be more centrally located, and they did not want all their eggs in one basket, so to speak.
Massachusetts followed a different course. But if Worchester was the capital today, she most probably would be a greater city. Boston would not really suffer, she was destined to be great anyway. And maybe there would be less complaining from Western and Central Massachusetts that the state only cared about the Boston area.
*examples: New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Louisana etc

thats not true, Worcester has the 2nd largest transit network in Massachusetts and 3rd in New England (behind Bostonand Providence)
Also Worcesters skyline looks like this
and is home to the worlds largest beverage company, Polar Beverages.

Worchester is now connected to Boston by commuter rail on the old Albany and Boston line (NYCRR). The Lake Shore Limited passenger train stops at both Rochester and Worchester.

not picking on you, but its Worcester not Worchester, i just want to clairfy that.
Eventhough I've only driven through Worcester, the responses for the outer neighborhoods surprised me. Here are some examples from Rochester: Upper Monroe Neighborhood Association | UMNA
