I don't understand why Chicagoans hate Indianapolis (Indy) so much. I like both cities but Chicago is the largest, most global city in the Midwest. I don't see any reason for them to dislike Indy.
Is it more of regional rivalry since Indianapolis is safer with lower cost of living and better schools while experiencing moderate growth compared to most of the Midwest?
I often heard Chicagoans saying that Indy is full of insecure, snooty bumpkins who think they are so special or better than everyone else.
I do know one thing for sure. Indy has Carmel and I would choose to live in Carmel over any overpriced, older suburbs in Chicago's North Shore or Naperville. That's just me.
There's Chicagoan's who love Indianapolis There's Chicagoan's who hate Indianapolis.
Everyone has there different reasons to hate a city. Maybe alot of Bears fans are still upset that the Colts beat them in the 2007 Super Bowl
Some do, some don't. I have found some Chicagoans are an equal opportunity hater of other midwestern cities. I would go out on a limb and say the majority of Chicagoans I know rarely if ever think about Indianapolis.

Oh, I'm sure there are Chicagoans who love Indianapolis.
I'm sure Chicago Bears' Super Bowl loss to the Colts is one of the reasons. LOL
I happen to be a fan of the Steelers myself and I love both Chicago and Indianapolis.
By the way, I bet the Bear fans aren't worried about the Colts without Peyton Manning unless the rumors are true that they are trying to get First Draft Andrew Luck out of Stanford to replace him.
I don't care about the burbs of Chicago OR Indianapolis. I moved to Chicago when I did for the city itself, Indianapolis has nothing to offer me. I don't hate it, it just doesn't interest me whatsoever.
Up here in the Twin Cities there's not much hatred between us and Chicago, A bunch of us vacation down in Chicago and a bunch of people from Chicago vacation up in Minneapolis. I know Indianapolis gets alot of visitors from Chicago for the Indy 500 races.
Btw yes im pretty sure the Colts will draft Andrew Luck. Peyton Manning is pretty much the king of the team and they obviously are nothing without him. So there gonna draft Andrew Luck, Manning will return after his injury and he will train Andrew Luck until its time for Manning to retire. Perfect situation for the Colts i'm happy to finally know who the next Colts QB will be after Manning

Neither do I...with all due respect, I don't see much to like about Indy. That's not because it's horrible at anything...it just seems like sort of a "nothing" city. I can't imagine why Chicagoans would hate it, but maybe they do.

Ha! I'm sure there are reasons, but jealousy is definitely not one of them. The thought of comparing Indy and Chicago is funny.
I've been here 10 years now, and I can count on one hand how many people I've heard talk about Indy. Of those people though, they weren't bashing it, just talking about going there for business and wondering what they should do on their time off.
Honestly the only people who go on and on about Chicagoans hating Indy people are normally people from Indiana who got the idea in their head. Chicagoans don't hate people from Indy anymore than they'd hate people from Kansas City, Charlotte or Denver.
Sports wise I can believe it. Otherwise people in Chicago don't tend to think much about other cities, let alone rag on and HATE them. Or else I guess you just have bad luck or fussy friends in Chicago...
