Now one riverfront that wasn't on the list is Savannah. They have a gorgous riverwalk with shops and stuff. I went there years ago for St. Patricks day. Boy oh boy was that fun and crazy.

How in the world Philadelphia got 8 votes. The waterfront here is pathetically under utilized. Not much really going on there most of the time. Can't compare to a place like Baltimore or the waterfront in Boston.

I did not vote for Philly in this poll. Further, I agree with the fact that the city's waterfront can't compare with that of Baltimore or Boston. That said, many people forget that Philly has two rivers. The Schuylkill River is very actively used: Philadelphia - Schuylkill River Trail
Philly for decades has turned its back on its other river, the Delaware. There is now a waterfront vision:

Whether or not it will be fully realized is of course undetermined.
Sorry if I come off jaded about Philly, but I've just seen so much talk and never action. This riverfront vision will never happen just like the proposed world trade center in Philly.
Other cities talk and actually get things done. In Philly you have such a parochial mindset, with few outsiders moving in, that not much ever changes. They couldn't even build a downtown baseball stadium due to nimby's and corrupt politicians. So they plopped it in the middle of a giant sea of parking miles from downtown. Don't get me started on the stupid entertainment district they are trying to build down there.

You are certainly entitled to your own views. I've lived here going on two years and I see new projects going up everywhere. This recent article confirmed what I've been seeing with my own eyes: Phila.'s aerial act a good sign - Philly.com.
Since this thread is about river cities, I will get back to the topic. I am pleased to see the city has a dynamic vision for the Delaware riverfront. You claim it will never happen. I will root for it. Time will tell.

I'm glad you are optimistic. I'm not. I read the link. Notice the bit about really high cost of construction, and the lack of any new office space. Very telling. Of course the Mayor won't say a word about taking on the unions that run the city.
I'm not going to pretend I have been everywhere, but of the places I have been to the two riverfronts that really stand out are Savannah and Minneapolis (in different ways and for different reasons). Some pictures I took.
