I am moving due to work. I have two opportunity's. One is located in CA and the other is located in LI. I have to make a decision no later then three weeks as of yeaterdays date. Pros about CA -- Beautiful weather , Great people , Very healthy oriented , Clean streets , Lots of diversity , good family oriented community's , Good to Great food , no humidity and beautiful beaches.
The Negatives -- Eath Quakes , Time change, High gas price.

Positive about LI -- Close to the best city in the world, Bagels and NY Islanders.
Negatives--- High taxes , Houses to close to each other , Rude people , Traffic , old out dated homes , bad snow removel , not well dressed people , house prices , bad accents , noisy traffic , people living in garages , no real dervisity , over priced falling house prices. Hopefully your suggestions will help in my choice of a place calling home.

Are you a native east-coaster? I think that's a difficult transition, to the left coast, if you are. Just MHO. I have a feeling based on your many negatives that this is a "poking" post more than anything....I guess we will see.

I lived in both places for a long time, and many of the qualities that you associate with California apply equally to Long Island and vice-versa. As the previous poster said, we need more information before we can help you.

I would love to try CA but how are the home prices not the same for CA? And traffic is worse if you're talking about a big city area.

Oh and yes the NY Islanders are awesome in 2017.

Awesome, maybe. NY? Who knows. It'd be a real slap to the OP if they moved to Ca. and he stayed.

Where your heart is, there should be your feet. Wherever your happiness is, is where you should be. If you are trying to escape the reality
of the rising cost of life here on Long Island, where can you really go? "Gee boss, da plane", no there is no Paradise Island no matter where you look.
Yes, it was wise of you to tap the wisdom of others, friends here at city-data, but the real answer is in your heart, it is a step that you and your family
will take, not our journey, but yours. I hope that your search for a decision will pay off, that you will do what is best in the long run. I have a son and a
grandson who live in Valencia, CA, and life isn't too easy there either, but he's making it. The days of your life will pass, true happiness, is to find success
at the end of your road, to know that no matter where you went, it all wound up good. It is less of a matter of where you live, but how you live, and if you
have made the most of each day that you are given. Your heart will answer your question. Oh, and by the way (and in keeping with your negative aspects
of L.I.), trust me to say that my son in Valencia tells me that California has High taxes , The houses are too close to each other , there's rude Mexican people,
alot of traffic and `low-riders with `Chee-`Chee balls hanging from the rear view , many old and out- dated homes , subject to daily earthquakes, not a whole
lot of well dressed people, most with bad accents , speeding traffic, people with road rage, people living in SUV's , too `effin much diversity , over priced housing,
market, and would you believe?- Even the `tittie-bars hardly give you a good show. Follow your heart.

I grew up and lived my entire life in the N/E . That is why it is so hard in my decision. The negatives are the hardest reason to stay. The islanders will be born again and wil rise holding the Stanley Cup
