SF is leagues below NYC. I really don't know where people came up with this idea that SF equals NYC. Just because it's the second most dense city in the country and has a large Chinatown?

^^This is exactly why so many can't stand San Franciscans, or even the city itself. It doesn't try to hold onto its roots or retain its identity. It instead copies NYC, or even Chicago and Boston to some extent. SF, while teeming with hipsters and still having historical areas/events based on the counterculture of the '60s, is largely a corporate city now focused on one main industry: tech. Compared that to other cities (like New Orleans and Philly) who have their issues, but are real and down to earth; they're comfortable in their own skin, and don't have to try so hard to be something they aren't. New Orleans and Philly still retain onto their historic charm, while SF has largely sold its soul in (failed) hopes of trying to become the next NYC. Heck, even LA is its own monster and isn't trying to copy any other city.

SF is nothing like NYC. It's like saying Bakersfield is like SF because they're both CA cities.

And SF probably has the worst climate on the California coast. Where along the coast could you possibly do worse in terms of weather (at least in terms of urbanized areas)?

I do agree that nearby nature is wonderful, though.

You're a broken record. Spewing the same crap day after day after day. Did you speak to San Francisco and get to know it. I didnt realize a city could sell its collective soul. Doesnt try to hold on to its roots, you mean the gold rush days, the victorian era, its Pacific Rim location and asian influence. So theyve turned their back on history!? By NO and Philly being comfortable in their own skin you mean they have little going on? Nobody would accuse San Francisco of not being a unique and charming city (except you). You've gone so far beyond center trying to discredit the city its just annoying now.
When I say San Francisco IS New York................Obviously Im joking (it doesnt have to be NY to be great).....please...

LOL NOLA and Philly have little going on? NOLA is world-renowned for its cuisine, culture, and nightlife, and is a very historic city.

Philly is the second-biggest city on the East Coast with a lot of history, great food, good nightlife and shopping as well. I can't imagine that SF, even including the suburbs, would have more going on.
