By the way, she did not consider New York as an "emerging" world city. The topic was about "An Emergent Urban Geopolitics" that affects the global economy today and the next decade. I think you misread it.
That's pretty much the same thing.

DC was the most influential city when it comes to urbanization? Really? No, that would be New York.... hands down.

Texas and Houston? No. Philadelphia is really the only city I'd put above Chicago, or LA for a different reason probably.

Finance.

NYC is hard for most US cities to emulate. I think that DC and its use of TOD has been the most influential. But it's a generalization and certainly open to debate.

We're talking trends here, not absolutes.

No, it's not. I hope you don't try to outsmart Saskia Sassen

Where is London and Paris on this list? London is arguably the number 1 city in the world virtually tied with NYC.

Nah. When I said "emerging" I meant in the context of her ranking, so I don't disagree at all with her criteria. Where I disagree is that NYC is "emerging" in any geopolitical or economic context because if anything it's influence is shrinking.

Glad to see these cities instead of Houston, Charlotte, and LA.

So your idea of being influential is with urban planning?

Number one? I don't think so. It's one of the most important global cities but certainly not the most.

And I think the topic is about US cities.

I never said Chicago is more a capital of finance than NYC. I said it's more than other parts of the country, which you questioned in your first statement. If you don't know this, maybe you're living under a rock?? AND, it is a capital of finance internationally, FYI.
