NEW ORLEANS!

I have not been to any other city in America that has as much character and soul as NOLA. The architecture, city, cuisine, music, PEOPLE, etc.. just give the place so much character. It feels pretty authentic too, more so than most other large cities. There is just something special about that place.

Agree no shortage of character nor characters

The Mayor even had a great quote this week.

"Like this is the first time anyone ever blacked out in NOLA"

New Orleans is maybe the best city in America for walking into a random bar and having a converstaion with some possibly eccentric local characters. It almost sounds like a cliche, but you read "A Confederacy of Dunces" and you realize that city really does attract some characters like that.

In terms in having a sort of unique local culture--from food to music to architecture, New Orleans really stands out. Just driving through a random neighborhood on the east side of town the last time I was there, we ended up getting stuck in a huge neighborhood brass band parade/street party. We couldn't drive anywhere, so we just got of our car and just joined in basically..

This thread is just going to come down to an argument between New York and New Orleans.

Philadelphia seems to have some early partisans. I think Philly has character, but not like New York, New Orleans, or San Francisco.
