Seattle mountains ARE more majestic, and Washington is a more beautiful state than Georgia. In addition, summers in Seattle are beautiful-sunny 80F with a light sea breeze and no humidity, cool nights. Atlanta is hot, muggy, and smoggy in the summer. Most people would find Seattle's summer climate far better than Atlanta's.
Your argument for distance makes sense here as well. If a Californian were heading out east, he/she'd much rather go to Florida or NYC than Atlanta. Atlanta is NOT a vacation destination!
You keep bring up other cities but we have been discussing 2.One of which more than one person joked about Seattle being ob the list.
Your opinion that Washington State is more beautiful.
You don't even know much about Georgia do you?

Yes but California and the west coast is accesible to 60 percent of the population that lives on the East Coast unless you got money, you not getting ther by car so easily as you can in Atlanta.
You keep saying Atlanta is not but you and no one else have had any facts to support what you say as I have.Thats a fact.
You repeating it is just silly.AAfrican Americans are not floking to Seattle over Atlanta!!Its dumb to even suggest it.LOL
Seattle even got 3 votes tied with D.C.!Really?Geez,I wonder what thats about?
I think one of the main motivations for vacation is to go someplace different. For a short vacation ATL fits the bill for the many millions of people that live nearby. For a longer vacation you go farther afield.
Pne way to look at this is what cities would keep you occupied for a whole week so you'd spend an entire vacation there. I can only think of NYC, DC, MIA, LV. Possibly Chicago, New Orleans, SF, LA. Orlando if you count all the threme parks. Cities like Denver, Seattle and ATL are certainly worth visiting but as part of a larger regional vacation.
Unless they had family or work duties it seems unlikely someone would spend an entire week in ATL or Seattle.
Charlotte's only 3.5 hours away, but it's nowhere near as population for a weekend getaway from Atlanta like Savannah, Charleston, FL's beaches, etc.
I think I was thinking of Raleigh as 5hrs.You know im just not a Charlotte fan but for a weekend AFTER people have been other places,it may be a choice for a small amount of people

Only for something special going on. Outside of that, not really.
Also weird is you posted the picture from Wikapeadia but did not post where it stated:
Now is that not "weird"?LOL
The picture is from Google Images, not Wikipedia.
The Smokey Mountains aren't Atlanta, so once again, your point of Atlanta being "a vacation hotspot" is false. There's even a thread on this forum where Travel & Leisure rated Atlanta in the bottom 25 in all categories: http://www.city-data.com/forum/atlan...-magazine.html

Actually quite alot of people visit Charlotte. Especially african-Americans. This isn't the Charlotte of 1990. Heck just today there is Joyfest(with Kirk Franklin) at Carowinds. There is Speedstreet Festival this weekend. Heck right now I'm at the SoulFood Festival eating watching Parliament and others perform live. Heck even last night I saw Charlie Murphy perform at a local comedy Club. This is all in just 2 days. Charlotte has ALOT going on and a lot of people visit. Heck today we actually met 3 couples from the Atlanta area. Man yall sleep in on the Queen City!!!

I'm talking about visitors specifically from Atlanta. For the most part, unless people have ties to the area, people from Atlanta aren't visiting Charlotte on a more leisurely basis unless something special is going on, most notably CIAA in recent years. For instance, why would I drive to Charlotte for the Soul Food festival and pay $27 for admission when there's the Caribbean Carnival going on in Atlanta, which only charges $10 for admission, and the Jazz Festival, one of the nation's largest free jazz festivals? I'm not saying nothing goes on in Charlotte because that would be false, but honestly not a whole lot that makes it worth the trip from Atlanta when Atlanta has its versions of all of those things which are typically larger in size. That's just a function of Atlanta being a much larger city and offering practically everything Charlotte does plus more.
The most popular travel destinations from Atlanta are the coast and the mountains, by far. No other place comes close. I know you love Charlotte as do I, but let's be realistic. I'm definitely not "sleeping" on Charlotte as I used to live there.
