The answer for me is Seattle as far as having the total package as far as upscale amenities, vibrancy and desirability.

That said, all of these downtowns are places I like and I voted for Salt Lake City because it's an absolute showplace these days.

Downtown SLC was nothing special when I went down there. Seattle is the run away winner compared to these cities

It's truly more than "a suburban style mall." I don't see how anyone who has actually been in it could characterize it in that way. Salt Lake City is also an exceptionally clean city and very easy to navigate. I'm not saying whether it's better or worse than the other cities listed (except maybe Portland), and it actually seems kind of odd to me that it was even among the choices since it's so much smaller than the other cities. But for a city its size, it really does have a beautiful and vibrant downtown area.
