Because Houstons mainstream was wack. Their underground is what was so special, but no media outlet like MTV or VH1 covered underground.

I'd like to throw Toronto or the GTA into the mix, they've been hot as of late. The Underground/Local artists have really put the area on the map, in regards to how they've orchestrated their own distinct "movement," or style. Drake, The Weeknd, PND, Nav, Roy Woods, Tory Lanez, Ram Riddlez, Halal Gang, Jazz Cartier, Murda Beatz, 40, etc. have done a solid job of portraying an image for Toronto, and how that translates to the Music or Hip Hop in particular. That dark, chilly, cold, monotone, ambient, and salacious type of style really correlates to the dancehall, vibrant, localized culture-influenced style that's also expressed within their music.

Sorry the late response but drake is overated. Hes NOT an MCEE or a rapper. Hes not that good . and uses too much autotune and trying to be the next tpain.

Most mmaistream music today are garbage. Especially followed by the dumb masses
