New Haven is where the hamburger was supposedly invented, and there's some really great pizza. That's about all I remember from living there.
Italians (pizza & etc) and one of the two places that claim to have "invented" the hamburger (along with Seymour, WI). I was there for a couple days and had some good Italian food, but it wasn't superior to other spots in the NE, too small a sample I guess. Certainly doesn't belong on this "foodie" list.
Its hard to give credence to a foodie city list where NYC, SF, and LA are all absent from the top 10. The list seems to lean heavily towards cities < 200k population for some reason.
Never heard much about New Haven, much less its food scene.
New Haven has some incredibly good pizza, really noticeably better than what I've personally had in NYC or any other city. I make sure to get some whenever I visit my grandparents up there. Of course, that isn't enough to make it the best overall food city unless you really love pizza.
