I was defending it, yes, what does that have to do with this thread?

Are those of you responding to this thread actually reading the OP's post? The OP is looking for a coastal city with sunshine and beaches. Seattle, Minneapolis, Calgary, Portland, Salt Lake City, Kansas City, Pittsburg, Phoenix, Sacramento, and Omaha, do not have sunshine and beaches.

Outside of the south, San Diego would be the only logical choice for the OP.

Sacramento has a ton of Sun (more than San Diego), and Sacramento has beaches in the form of lakes and rivers. Ocean beaches, specifically the San Mateo and Marin Coasts, are under 2hours away, very doable as a day trip. San Francisco and San Pablo Bays are about 1 hour away for sailing and fishing.

Hmmm...what about these beaches in Seattle?

Spokane is fairly similar to Denver according to my brother although Spokane is a smaller sized city.

I have never heard anyone describe Sacramento as a "coastal" city. Last I checked Sacramento is about two hours away from an ocean beach.

I think those pictures are very misleading. I have been to Seattle and I love the Seattle Waterfront. But I have been told by locals that the water is way too cold, and they would never ever consider swimming in it. Even for the sunbathing, that's possible only about two months out of the year, at best. But on the few nice days out of the year, people in Seattle do flock to the water like that.

I think your misleading as someone who grew up in Seattle we swam almost everyday during the summer. If you have been to Seattle don't forget there is water everywhere just not Puget sound. Are summer's are long and dry and one of those pictures was Lake Washington.
