1. NYC
2. Montreal
3. LA
4. Miami
5. Chicago
6. SF
7. NOLA
8. LV
NOLA and LV sizewise just can't really compete with the others.
I'm pretty sure LV and NOLA would be above LA, Chicago, and SF. None of which are known for being party cities, especially SF. I could understand LA on a personal preference but not in general.
New Orleans-LOVE NOLA-live music, cheap drinks, fun people, good food, not pretentious, open late-Frenchman St was amazing!
NYC-Lived here during College and had a blast, but some bars are way overpriced with horrible beer selection. Sometimes I'd have more fun in The Bronx/Rockaway/Yonkers versus Manhattan. Why does everyone in NYC seem to drink $7 BudLights? The sheer magnitude/diversity of NYC should have it near the top of everyone's list though.
Montreal-Had a great time as an 18 year old Freshman in College on Spring Break. I like Montreal a lot, and would like to experience it now that I'm a little older.
Las Vegas-Have been to Vegas twice and it's hard not to have a good time-very fake and overpriced though.
Chicago-I like Chicago alot, My trip was very Wrigleyville focused which seems like it could get old fast, but I know there are way more aspects to Chicago nightlife I'd like to experience.
Miami Beach-Very fantasy like/fake, overpriced, bad music blasting everywhere. I have heard that it is better to go out in the actual city of Miami for these reasons but I have never done that.
San Francisco-I like SF ALOT but nightlife doesn't seem to be it's strong point. Seemed to close early and was kind of tame.
LA-Never been to the city
I go out in NYC all the time and hardly anywhere I've been to had a 7 dollar Bud Lights. Most places sell 4 dollar Bud/Bud Light, and craft beers for 6-8. Also, most places have a decent craft beer selection these days.
So far I've really only experienced NYC nightlife. Lots of cool dives. There are a good amount of places that are not really clubs but have dance floors, it seems like a lot of them have a no single guys policy on weekend nights which is pretty pretentious in my opinion considering these are just bars with dancefloors and not clubs. But with NYC's massive density, these places can get away with that since there will be a long line no matter what.
I think a city's nightlife should be judged by several factors, including variety, walkability, and last call. Last call in most of the US is 2AM, so I think for places like NYC where it's 4AM, or New Orleans or Vegas where there's no last call, that's a big boost by default.
To have NYC in a poll for ranking nightlife is a bit ridicules.
Most know NYC will win virtually any vs. thread on C-D. It's a given. Should then most times a BUT FOR NYC as #1.
Which OTHER city then has the better/best scene and why? Also a 2 year old thread with banned members today in the votes too.

I don't think NYC is the end-all-be-all for nightlife in NA. There are other cities that give it a run for it's money.
How about San Jose? It has a great nightlife scene!!!!!
