This is a tough one. For me I'd say New Orleans. The climate is pretty much the same, they both flood a lot, but as far as positives go, NOLA is more diverse (seems like San Antonio is Tex-Mex and that's it). NOLA has more of a party scene and to me seems more badass. NOLA has more Black people (I don't know why that's positive to me but it is), NOLA has French heritage, and it just seems more exotic of the two with a pseudo-Caribbean, pseudo-French, pseudo-Italian feel to it. San Antonio just seems like Mexico to me and that's fine, but I like more variety. Also, the Yat accent is badass. I don't know that San Antonio even has an accent, does it???
Apart from not having a good text me selection, it's NOLA by 10 miles. By far it is a more complete and cosmopolitan city. Love NOLA and would love going back. In fact I want to go now.
san antonio, but at the same time these are cities depending what people prefer (polls show it)
climate is definitely not the same as NO is much more humid and muggy. ive never liked partying at the french quarter although many like it. i never feel safe when out and about there. san antonio has much better outdoor activities to enjoy. lots of state parks to go hiking, sight seeing, lakes, rivers, etc. crime seems worse in new orleans. went once into downtown near those above ground cemeteries in new orleans. parked and saw about 3 cars broken into within a block. turned around and got back into our vehicle.
San Antonio by a mile! New Orleans is a great place to visit and party, but aside from that, it's like what UTHORNS96 stated. It's kind of a dump. San Antonio offers alot as well, and is situated on the Texas Hill Country.
I'd say both cities have their fair share of dumpy areas. The south and west sides of San Antonio aren't all that special to me, but there is more in the way of upscale areas simply because it is a larger metro.
Both cities are hot with unique history and plenty to eat. I'd say the most outstanding difference that might sway someone is the terrain. SA is quite hilly while NO is flat as a board.
I expect NO to win this poll because most people really don't know much about San Antonio outside of the Spurs. But strictly as a place to LIVE, SA is better and it's not close.
NO is a filthy soppy wet crime pit - and, that's just for starters. There is no comparison.
