Chelas. I like the scenery and neighborhoods better in that part of the country.
I’m also a fan of obscure old automobiles, and Washington is a hotbed of them. I’ll find cool old cars on every block to gawk at, so that’s an extra element of scenery.
Washington is also supposed to have a favorable tax status, so once you get away from the Seattle area, it’s cost of living is probably better.
If I have to be IN the city then Columbus, otherwise Jackson. Jackson itself is a ghetto but the suburbs are really nice.
Bangor, ME or Fairbanks, AK?
Definitely Bangor... It's more easily accessible, has a better climate (with less extreme sunlight/darkness), is close to the ocean, and I presume has much lower cost of living.
I think I'd pick Muskegon even though it gets a lot more snow. I love Lake Michigan.
Grand Forks or Bismarck, North Dakota?
Can I pick neither? Just kidding. Between these 2, I'd probably pick Grand Forks. Since at least it isn't far from Fargo, Bemidji, and it also is a short drive north to Winnipeg across the border. Plus it's along an Amtrak long distance train route(Chicago to Seattle, or Portland via a branch southwest of Spokane), the Empire Builder. And at least it wouldn't be as far to get to the Twin Cities in Minnesota, or Sioux Falls(SD).
Billings, MT, or Rapid City, SD?
