You realize that the same thing was said about Tower City Center and I dismantled it with cold, hard facts that proved emphatically that Crown Center was bigger and better than Tower City Center, right?

It's completely unfair to compare Ohio City with the Plaza. The Plaza is 5 times larger and more populated. Just look at those lame aerial photos of Ohio City. Ohio City looks like a small village with 4 large buildings while the Plaza has dozens of tall towers and architectural charm. The Plaza absolutely destroys Ohio City. GAME OVER.

But do you feel like KC sort of wasted a lot of that potential to make a much more standard US shopping mall but in an interesting setting?

Did you try looking at the list of shops and restaurants in your own links? Which one do you really think is actually more appealing?

What offends you? All the research, facts and photos I post?
I've responded to claims that Tower City Center and Ohio City are superior to anything in KC.
I've only tried to make a case for Crown Center and the Plaza which both are larger and better.
I don't see how that warrants your name calling, but I forgive you.

The Plaza was started and built in 1922. The actual commercial area of shops and amenities is a compact, urban and walkable 15 blocks. It's not a mall, it's a commercial shopping district - just like Ohio City or the Magnificent Mile in Chicago aren't "malls."

Yes, I understand. It's a very interesting setting, but do you find it disappointing that what it offers is more like what's found in a more standard upper mid-range US shopping mall?

The Country Club Plaza district, the entire district, not just the shopping center, is one of the most unique and interesting urban mixed use districts in the country. The ONLY reason the Plaza is not more well known is because it's in Kansas City. It's an amazing area that has come together over ten decades of different eras of architecture etc. The fountains, the high rise apartments, the river walk. It's a cool area and something nobody expects when they visit KCMO.

Cleveland has nothing even remotely like the Plaza.

Just like KC has nothing like Playhouse Square.

NBA is simply extremely popular globally.

Besides, nobody knows or cares about either of these cities gloablly. Lets keep this national
Everything in Cleveland is more important! Don't you know

The undeniable fact is KC and CLE are two very equivocal cities, but I think KC is just nicer and has more growth. But CLE is a nice city with some great attractions.

Gene, these 3 Cleveland posters, who I think may be the same person...when you point out that they have never honestly throughly explored anywhere outside Cleveland and that it is not that special....they get very upset. They will pretty much demean and name call you. Somehow, they are allowed to get away with it on this forum.

KC and CLE are very similar cities. Very similar. What one does not have, the other does.

But you are correct that the Plaza blows out of the water anything in Cleveland. But you would need to stay in an Airbnb in the plaza for a week to know that, and bike, and walk it.

You've never been there so your question seems silly. The Plaza offers everything that the Magnificent Mile in Chicago has or any other shopping district in America.

Does it bother you that the Plaza is larger, more beautiful and offers better shopping and amenities than both Tower City Center and Ohio City combined?

The Plaza is better than the mag mile. It's more of a neighborhood. It's more walkable, it's more enjoyable. It's more laid back, yet it's urban. It's unique.

Nothing like listening to live music on the sidwalks of the plaza with water flowing in the fountains in the background. Traffic moves at about 10 mph.

Sure the mag mile will have more upscale shopping, but but the plaza is much more than just a shopping center. It's a great neighborhood.

I never meet a cleveland transplant that has much nice to say about it. Cleveland is super cold and cloudy most of the year the weather is just unbearable unless your from there , run down, crime ridden, very segregated and there teams always lose.
Exactly. Although I think CLE is actually surprisingly nice in parts, especially downtown, Ohio City, etc, it definitely fits this stereotype in most the metro area actually.

The stauchest defenders of Cleveland, even to a delusion, are right here on City-Data.

In every city in America, especially in the southeast, you will find Cavs, or Browns, or Indians bars full of people who left Cleveland. And while they love their teams, they will bash (and tell the truth) about the city.
