COL Bmore. Used to be comparable, but now Seattle is getting crazy expensive. Bmore for sure, altho I heard MD taxes are high.
Nightlife Bmore. Seattle is a very dry town. There is a few casinos, there is concerts and everything, but it's not on par. Nobody from outta town ever thinks of Seattle or WA as poppin'. Very laid back town with some things to do. Im not familiar with Bmore, but Im sure its more poppin plus u got DC right there.
Things to do in the region Bmore. Both WA and MD offer many nature and destination options, although Bmore offers excellent access to warm ocean and urban places like DC, Philly and NYC. If you jus stay in the vicinity of each city though, it's pretty much a tie, similar landscapes.
Jobs/economy Seattle is booming, cranes everywhere, high paying jobs. Bmore seems just OK.
Climate Tie. I dont like 8 months of gloom, but I don't like hot/humid summers either.
Culture Bmore 100% for most people. Anything NE is better than lame, passive aggressive NW. People in Seattle are nasty/stank on the low, which is even worse. Bmore seems way more down to earth and real.
Food Not sure, prolly tie. Seattle has good seafood, everything else is mediocre. Don't know much about Bmore.
Seattle easily. Better nightlife, day life, better food, much better downtown, nicer people, cooler neighborhoods, way better shopping, less violent crime, way less rundown areas. I'll take Seattle's weather over Baltimore's any day. And that Maryland accent I can live without. I was back in Baltimore a few months ago. Seemed much more lively a few years ago. Lexington Market or Pike Place Market?
I'd take Baltimore pretty easily. Seattle is too isolated and overcast, and not as diverse.
Diversity doesn't equate to integration. Seattle as a whole is without question less diverse than Baltimore, but you're much more likely to see whites and blacks live side by side in Seattle. The segregation in Baltimore is extreme.

I'd still take Baltimore--again, rather easily. As a Black man, I prefer cities with a large, robust Black cultural infrastructure and more social opportunities. Baltimore provides that while Seattle doesn't come close. And Baltimore's climate and geographical location are more preferable as well.

Actually, by some metrics Seattle is more diverse. 95% of Baltimore is two races: Black or White. The rest are small fractions of the overall population.
Seattle has 4 races/ethnicities that make up at least 8% of the population: White, Black, Asian, and Hispanic (Seattle has more than twice as many Hispanics as Baltimore and 5 times as many Asians). It also has a much larger and more diverse foreign-born population, with a much higher number of languages spoken.

Sorry but as a black man who has lived in both areas I'd much rather live in Seattle. Black people are leaving Baltimore as well with its shrinking population.
