Seattle-Bellevue-Kirkland Washington….land where Starbucks, Costco, Nordstrom, Amazon, Expedia, Microsoft, Boeing, Weyerhaueser, Zillow and many more come from. Excellent area for tech.

A lot of people are listing places that have launched successful start-ups, but are not necessarily the case anymore due to cost of business. The next big wave of companies are going to be coming from places that can attract tech talent yet still be affordable to start a business.

LA (Snapchat, Oculus, SpaceX, Beats, Tinder) and NYC (Tumblr, Etsy, Gilt, Fab, Foursquare) are pretty much the two hottest cities in terms of tech-start ups right now that’s not SF or Boston.

I’d lean towards LA for the lower cost of living and better pool of tech graduates from Caltech, UCLA and Claremont Colleges. NYC for media/finance/retail related tech start-ups. LA for media/content/gaming related tech start-ups.

Seattle is heavily tech, but it’s dominated by the established old-guard.

Boston has the best talent after the Bay but for whatever reason can’t produce those "talked-about" companies (Wayfair, Trip Advisor, Akamai)
