Which song encapsulates more of the city's culture? (through lyrics) - Atlanta
Which song gives a more interesting description of the city? (through lyrics) - Atlanta
Which song makes the city seem more fun? (through lyrics) - Miami
Better song? - Miami (Because it samples the Whispers)
Only problem I had with Miami is that it was mostly a song about South Beach, instead of Miami itself as a city.
You are more likely to still hear "welcome to Atlanta" on the radio than Will Smilths song which I never rally liked.
Both songs do little to show or tell the whole story of the city or what its about althouh W.to A is better at it.
W to Mia makes the city more fun buts its mainly about South Beach.
W to AtL is such a better song that is more mun to party to and dance.

No doubt. I would imagine that it's a popular song for the city of Atlanta, seems like an easy backdrop to new arrivals/transplants in Atlanta.
I was actually just introduced to "Welcome to Atlanta" a few months ago during the NBA Free Agency. Dwight Howard decided to sign with the Atlanta Hawks, to which someone made this video to celebrate the signing:
Will Smith's "Welcome to Miami" was pretty popular about a decade ago and I've heard in live stream in recent years too, so it is still in circulation but yeah, I would imagine "Welcome to Atlanta" probably gets played more in the present.
"Welcome To Atlanta" has a better sound than "Miami." It's easier to dance to, and it doesn't rely on a sample to carry the song. On the other hand, "Miami" has better lyrics than "Welcome To Atlanta." Will Smith makes Miami seem posh and luxurious, while Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris make Atlanta seem tacky and sleazy.
