Fort Bend is a much more affluent county than Gwinnett overall, more dominated by families and homeowners, and somewhat better educated. This is not true of the Houston vs. Atlanta metropolitan areas in general, but Gwinnett County is a very economically mixed suburban area that has fewer high income households than the other major local counties (Fulton, DeKalb and Cobb). Fort Bend, meanwhile appears to be the most well-off county of the Houston metro area.

I would say that the scenery in the northern Georgia Piedmont is a lot prettier than Texas' coastal plain, but both counties are heavily developed modern suburban areas that are pretty generic in a lot of respects. There are some charming pockets in Gwinnett, including the downtowns of Lawrenceville and Suwanee, but it is fairly typical suburbia in most areas - with an extremely diverse population. From what I know of Fort Bend, there are several master planned residential communities, which are not as common in Gwinnett. This could be linked to Fort Bend's relative affluence.

I have lived in Gwinnett, and I live in Houston.

They are pretty close, but FBC is more diverse and is growing a lot faster. GC has waaaaaaay better scenery. If FBC was where Montgomery County is in Greater Houston, then the counties would be close to twins. FBC seems "newer." To me, I think FBC has more going on as far entertainment; Sugarland beats anything in GC.

Without any maps handy at the moment, what's in Gwinnett Co, Georgia? Atlanta? I know quite about about the US, but have never heard of that county before now.

It's Georgia's second-largest county in population, and first in land area. It's in metro Atlanta, and the best way to describe it is Suburban Hell.

Good brief summary, except Gwinnett County is #50 in land area.

Did Fort Bend County ever have a Q-Zar?

No?

Then my vote goes to Gwinnett County!
