I don’t think Pittsburgh needs any introduction as far as scenery goes, but with Roanoke being set near the Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s tough to argue that these are two beautiful eastern cities.

Which would you consider to be the more naturally beautiful metro area?

Personally, I would say Roanoke is more beautiful. Love the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I have never heard of "Roanoke, VA" as anything beyond a lost colony. My vote goes to Pittsburgh.

I think Pgh is more scenic overall when nature and the built environment are considered, but as far as just natural scenery, Pittsburgh is beautiful, but Roanoke is bueatifuller. The Allegheny Plateau is no comparison to the Blue Ridge in my opinion.

I’ll take Roanoke for sheer scenic beauty. Pittsburgh is just as lush but Roanoke is beautiful.

Of the two, Roanoke would be the correct answer.

Roanoke. Both have a lot of natural beauty, but Roanoke more so. I just love the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The lost colony of Roanoke wasn't in Virginia. Roanoke Island, NC.
