So, the idea of this thread is this: If you could enjoy the natural amenities, etc. of one of these two combos of cities (you can take anything within 2 hrs. as fair game), which one is the better package deal?

I actually personally prefer Atlanta's access to mountains/forest over any of these, and solidly so. However, I feel like the most popular choice would be Miami for natural scenery given the coast, tropical ambiance, etc.

I partnered Miami up with Dallas, which, with respect, would probably in eye of public perception be last of these regarding scenery. That doesn't mean it offers nothing though. I realize it has beautiful forest, prairie, blooms, lakes, even hills, etc. so Dallas-ites, this is your time to shine, show us some of the most beautiful scenes, hiking, etc. your area has to offer.

Houston I felt would probably be more popular regarding natural scenery than Dallas given it's proximity to the coast and slightly more tropical feel, though I figured that in perception's eye (in spite of how much I love it's forested areas), it would reside behind Miami on this standpoint, as I guess that in some cases TX Gulf Beaches, at least by Galveston, aren't that highly thought of.

So that's really it. If you were to enjoy the natural amenities for a week of Greater Dallas and Miami, versus a week of Greater Houston and Atlanta, which would you choose? Feel free to post pictures, videos, links to trails, etc.

This is hard. I will have to think about this one. I love mountains, trees, and water. Tough.

I guess it all depends. If you take the Atlanta-Houston option, you at least get some of both.

But, if you take the Miami-Dallas option... I don't know. I know Dallas boosters say they have hills and trees and I think further out of Dallas esp. Fort Worth has some hiking options. But, I personally still feel like Atlanta-Houston is a better combo of both.

I'm leaning Atlanta-Houston. But it's close because Miami coast is hard to beat.

Pictures from Dallas (disclosure, the first two are from Waco, which is sort of within the drive range). I didn't really spend a lot of time in Dallas outside of city centers when I was there this time last year. Spent quite a bit of time out in nature in Austin though... if it were Austin+Miami, I might then go with that instead.

So, I have to admit.. I don't have any photos of all of natural ATL. Well, actual ATL at least. I've been up Stone Mountain, to Emory's campus, the Eastside Beltline, and Kennesaw Mountain, I just don't have any photo documentation lol. These are all places within about 2 hrs. (range I mentioned)-ATL can hold it's own by itself I think but is strengthened significantly by these spots further out in it's region.

These are from our recent spring break trip from last week. Great spot to practice social distancing.

Edit: Just realized I've managed to hit all of the "Big 4" within the last calendar year. Good stuff lol.
