You can see exactly what area is being included in the Yelp search via the map on the right of the screen. If you type in the name of a city it usually includes some areas outside the city limits, just because city boundaries don't fit neatly into a square map area.

A lot of the Boston Bars have moved out of the Faneuil Hall/Downtown area and have moved to Quincy, Cambridge and Somerville now.

A lot of nightlife is bulding in the Seaport District and Somerville that I know of.

I misinterpreted the original post. I thought it showed the same radius for each city, but when I did the search myself it seems like the results do closely resemble each cities' limits. I stand corrected.
