While the the so called most progressive, media darling, Huntsville scores a 12 LMAO.
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but Huntsville is usually referred to as progressive in a general sense (good economy, good schools, low crime, etc) and not in the political/ideological sense, correct?

If you lived in the state for several decades, you would understand it more. During the 90's and the decade of the 2000's, mobile and montgomery was destiny by alabama media to over take bham as the economic center of the state. That theory fail flat on it face and neither city came close. Now this decade, they have put huntsville on the high horse pedestal to take the reigns. With several projects being steered there, now the alabama media is creating another city to get behind because of the hate for bham. So that's the base of that post.

Oh I understand the pretext and you actually helped me to explain my point even further. Occasionally we have to distinguish between the denotations of the term "progressive" on this forum and I think this was probably one of those times.

It takes more than having a nasa/government economy and think you are progressive because of those industry. That's what they hang their hats on. It's alabama. They are a red city and pretending to think they are blue. It's a conservative town. You can say you are something, but when others see different, then what that tell you. Bham is the only blue city out of the big 4 in the state. And it's been that way for several decades.

Houston is always a giant disappointment on this front...
Miami is lower, though.

Houston's score was 54 the year the ordinance was passed on city council (2014). The ordinance never had a chance to be factored in on the MEI score, because it got challenged right after it passed.
It scored much higher before the evangelicals managed to kill HERO through tricking voters into thinking that it would allow sexual predators into women's restrooms.

Miami as a municipality hasn't enacted any more laws regarding Gay rights since Miami-Dade County passed their HRO (Human Rights Ordinance) in 1998.
The county law on this issue supercedes local law.
Does Harris county have a similar law?
St. Paul - 102
Minneapolis - 100
Rochester - 64
Duluth - 57
Bloomington - 48
