I thought about HHI (St. Simons and Amelia as well), but on the whole they offer upper-middle and even middle class housing in some areas as well. They're really not on the same level as Sea or Kiawah, where homes start at around 2M and gate entry is restricted to residents, club members and resort guests.
Other island enclaves in the SE that are off limits to looky-loos:
Seabrook Island, SC
Fisher Island, FL
Daufuskie Island, SC
John's Island, FL

True but it seems like the OP was leaning more towards neighborhoods or municipalities that skew significantly higher when it comes to incomes, home values, etc as opposed to places that are just plain ol' exclusive.

Yes, I went off on a bit of a tangent with the island communities. No city neighborhood, no matter how affluent, can provide that level of exclusion...unless, of course, they privatize their roads (and build a moat).
Mountain brook is where literally all of the 1% wealth in Alabama is. Exaggerating, but not by much. I believe it is in the top 25 zip codes in terms of wealth in the US. The south still has a lot of old money left, and it concentrates in Mountain brook.

Mountain Brook is a nice town, but it is considerably less wealthy than many other wealthy towns in the South. For instance:
Median Family Income:
Belle Meade: $220K
Mountain Brook: $130K
My vote would be for Fisher Island, FL, but it is so exclusive that most of us “regular” people will never even get to see it.
We have vacationed in Kiawah, and I absolutely love it, but wouldn’t consider it super exclusive.
There is only ONE Uptown/Carrollton in the Southeast and probably United States. I really do think folks intentionally make stuff complicated for no reason. And I didn’t add states because I wanted responses from folks that KNOW and have EXPERIENCED these places. Geez.
I can only think of Dallas TBH, but I assume you mean something else seeing as those places don't exactly border each other and Carrolton isn't known for wealthy.

Lol. That may be one metric, but zip codes tell the entire story. Mountain Brook has two, one where the AGI is $195k and the other is $318k.
And I agree that Fisher Island is exclusively exclusive. It should be seeing that’s it has the wealthiest zip code in the country.
