the OP is defeating his own purpose through his sweeping, hypocritical generalizations. You do realize the implications you create when citing that you live "on the better side of the Mason-Dixie Line." There are snobby people everywhere, as there are down-to-earth everywhere. This is just a silly thread, and the OP is not making it easy to take it seriously.
The difference between NY and Californai here is thatonly some pockets around NYC are snobby and arrogant (most of the state is down to earth) while the majority of California (from what I have seen in person and on these boards) is very arrogant and snobby!
Yea New Yorkers really feel they are at the center of the universe and as some of these threads have shown, these people whole-heartedly believe this. Despite the fact that the financial capital of the world is actually now London, and has been for some time, New Yorkers still think it's the 1940's.
Ah yes and the Californian's...well eventually they won't be arrogant for much longer, as the state will eventually mirror Mexico.
Arrogance displayed by certain people on this board is hardly representative of the greater population of a given state. I am basing my opinions on the actual experiences I've had with the people in a given area, either in person or on the telephone.
In 1993-1994 I had a job as a CSR in Indianapolis. I decided to track every single phone call that came in to determine where the rudest people lived. I noted that NY (NYC area only), MA, FL, CA and MO were the worst. Now the list would change if I based my experiences by face to face meetings. MO would still be on the list and mostly because the people in KC are quite rude while much of the rest of the state people seem to be more civil. MA would still be on the list along with CA. But NY and FL would drop off and then I'd add IN (certain parts of the state) and KS (suburban KC only).
why do people think that NY state is ONLY NYC??? i mean seriously, NY is definitely NOT the most snobby state, have you guys ever been to UPSTATE new york, probably some of the freindliest people on the planet.
