Atlanta wins here... Its warmer, sunnier - but ironically also receives more rain than Seattle.
This is not accurate. Summers here are sunny with very little rain (it's the dry season here in summer).

Average sunny days per year:
Seattle: 152 (definitely more than a month of sun)
Atlanta: 217

Also while you are correct that Atlanta gets more rain by volume there are more rainy days in Seattle:

Average rainy days per year:
Seattle: 152
Atlanta: 113

I'll take Seattle's weather over most of the country. Any city with hot oppressively humid summers is the absolute worst.

While his comment was an exaggeration, it is indisputable that Seattle is amongst the cloudiest major cities in the US.

Oh for sure and Seattle has some of the better weather in western Washington as it benefits from being in a rain shadow. I'm just 60 miles sw of Seattle and we average 12" more rain and get about ~20 days less sun than there and there are a lot of places that have it even worse. That said, I'll gladly take this weather over hot humid summers and/or freezing cold winters any day.

I haven't been to either, but on paper I pick Seattle since I'm more drawn to its natural surroundings.

Fair enough. We all have our preferences.

Although comparing major cities in the US, I'm not sure I agree with the bolded.

Oh for major cities sure. I was just talking about in western Washington itself there are many places with worse weather than Seattle.

Weather is subjective for sure. Seattle has good summer weather, but the summers are too short. The gloom and cold drizzle last too long for my taste.

Seattle all the way. I'll take a little overcast over humidity any day. Not many places in the world with it's gorgeous natural surroundings, snow capped mountains, ocean, rain forests.. Incredibly beautiful.
